STILL NUMBER ONR HOTEL IN AMSTERDAM
My first time i stayed at the American hotel was June 9 1987 . It was by accident too . I walked in to their lobby at 10: 30 at night asking to use their phine3 to Call the States . Then i asked for a room for a couple nights . Their front desk staff was Super helpful to me . It might have been that my Parents were Born in Norway too . I have noticed that all of Europe was Super helpful on my 3 week Vacation . I could walk into a rest8 up in the highlands of Scotland and the Owner knew that i was a Norwegian man .Even people in the Middle east loved me. .I loved them too .I had neve t bern to any Arabic country until 1986 .I dont understand why. I can pget along with the whole world . This hoyels breakfast was custom made for me by their.chef . I was tired so i stayed close to the hotel for a couple days for all my meals . The street car stops in front of the hotel from Amsterdams Central station . Great service . All the Museum's are only minutes away from the hotel .I rented.a bike for Two weeks and enjoyed myself in the city .
A relaxing 'stolen Easter-weekend' despite the Lockdown!
Having written about our 'stolen' w/e in Amsterdam at Easter, since I had to meet my husband from a long-distance flight at a much 'scaled-down' Schipol Airport, some views of our lovely hotel. We stayed at the American Hotel which was one of the few hotels open in the city, during the lockdown on account of the Corona Virus. The beautiful Art Deco restaurant was closed too! However, this hotel got round the difficult situation by opening only 1 floor with guest rooms, and by ordering meals for guests from nearby restaurants, who had a delivery service. The staff (Yvonne, Beau, Jesse and Oscar) were most charming and very helpful, they even arranged a car with driver to take us to see the flower fields on Easter Saturday. Next time we travel to Amsterdam, I would definately stay here again and cannot wait to do so next year! Despite the fact that the restaurants, sights and museums were closed, Amsterdam was really beautiful 'under lock-down' only local residents around AND the hordes of tourists were absent! THEY can stay away as far as we're concerned!
Perfect location, good hotel
I liked the hotel very much. It is quite historical and old house but inside is complete luxury. Since I went there for business and the company paid I stayed here. Otherwise it is far beyond my budget. I really liked this place. The view from the room was good and the location of the hotel is perfect wor exploring Amstardem. Nothing wrong all is good with this hotel. But as I said it is quite expensive anyway it derserves its rate.
Can walk practically anyplace from this location
We stayed at the American Hotel on Leidsekade the first time as part of our tour. We loved its old world charm and great location that we came back for a stay on our own this time!! Our room was 133 and had a beautiful stained glass window in it. We stayed in Nov. 2019 and it was in transition from the American Hotel to a Hard Rock!! We bought the package with breakfast included. It is so good- a buffet with alot of choices. The waiter came to our table and offered my tea drinking friend a nice choice of teas! We walked to tons of shopping and even walked home from the XtraCold Icebar. My phone died in Iceland so when staying in Amsterdam took my phone to the Celly Shop down the road. They were so great and spent hours fixing the phone and put in a new battery. It got me by for months until I was able to get a new one. Love this hotel!!
